There was a piece on the news yesterday about retaliation against entertainment personalities who expressed opposition to the war. I found this most distressing, reminiscent of the Hollywood blacklists of the ultra-paranoid 1950's. While I can understand and appreciate some of the arguments for the war, there are also many legitimate ones against, including the death and misery caused and the implied reaffirmation of the legitimacy of violence to solve human problems. Patriotism is not shown by automatic support for the war de jour, in my opinion.
